1] PURPOSE OF THE JOB AND ADDED VALUE

You are responsible for the efficient and effective management of the entire operational department so that cooperation between different departments and external contacts runs optimally and the logistical operations processes run safely and as efficiently as possible.

Besides that you are primarily responsible for ship operations, bulk loading and operational activities and processes in the tank areas

  • Managing and guiding improvement processes as well as process changes.
  • Optimization of processes and structures in function of business strategy.
  • Designing a performing Operation (installations & personnel).
  • Oversee and plan day-to-day operational activities.
  • Leadership: directing, coaching and motivating all operations employees.
  • Communicating policy decisions to employees.
  • Ensuring efficient communication between different departments (commercial, customer support, SHEQ etc). Ensuring well-structured and documented work processes and instructions.
  • Manage and control the correct use of operational work instructions.
  • Training and repeating training of employees within various operational disciplines and in the context of safety and instructions.
  • Perform prevention and safety tasks.
  • Provides operational reporting to TM, incl. monitoring operational KPI’s.
  • Participate in and initiate consultation forms.
  • Secure the MOC process.
  • Help determine the storage options and conditions for products for commercial applications.
  • Manage operational budget and follow up costs.
  • Owner of operational automation system: monitoring + setting parameters.
  • Follow-up and control of the application of a safe work permit.
  • Be an emergency plan leader.
  • Taking over the duties of the Terminal Manager when absent.

2] WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PLACE OF WORK

  • The Terminal Operations Manager reports to the Terminal Manager and directly supervises the Shift Team Leaders and the Operations Coordinator and indirectly to the Allround and Bulk Operators and the Operations Employees. The Terminal Operations Manager is an essential link between the Terminal and the project organization. The Terminal Operations Manager replaces the Terminal Manager in his absence. The Terminal Operations Manager is a member of the MT.

3] WHAT WE BELIEVE YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS OPERATIONS MANAGER

Professional education/experience and other requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in tank terminals/storage industry or the (petro)chemical industry, in a similar role
  • Degree in (Industrial) Engineering: Chemical or Mechanical.
  • Languages: Dutch/English/French
